Create and structure teams

New teams start in simplified mode and appear as a single team. Switch to the multi-team structure when several teams need to share public visibility, continuous membership, a main description, or a place.

  • Keep simplified mode for one class or group.
  • Switch to the multi-team structure when related teams share those settings but need separate schedules, prices, Leaders, or members.
  • Create separate top-level teams when those shared settings should differ.

Choose the structure before adding schedules, prices, Leaders, and members.

  1. Open Teams with a Manager profile.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Enter the unique team Name and required Description.
  4. Choose its main Place.
  5. Select Public only if members should be able to find and join the team themselves. When the content feature is enabled, you can also add a cover photo and long description.
  6. Decide Continuous membership.
  7. Submit.

To turn a simplified team into a multi-team structure:

  1. Open the team and select Edit.
  2. Under Switch to team, enter a name for the first team in the group.
  3. Submit.
  4. Open the meta team’s Teams area and add the other teams.

The original members move to the named team. The shared settings stay on the meta team, while each team can have its own description, place, Leaders, schedules, prices, and members.

TeamM combines the meta-team name with each Team name for the full display name. Leave a team-specific description or place empty to inherit it from the meta team. Public visibility and continuous membership always remain at meta-team level.

After creation:

  1. Open Leaders. Assign a Leader to the meta team for shared access, or to one team for access to that team only.
  2. Open Schedules and create the repeating schedule.
  3. Open Memberships and create prices.
  • Configure public visibility and continuous membership on the meta team, not on the teams inside it.
  • A team can move only between multi-team structures that use the same continuous-membership mode.
  • A meta team can be archived only after all its teams are archived.
  • Unarchive the meta team before unarchiving one of its teams.
